Probus Club Trivia:

The following are a few things Paul Van de Kamer found while preparing his comments for the meeting:

  • 25 years ago membership fees were $24 - considering inflation since 1988 we’re getting a real bargain with our fees to-day of $35.
  • our initial meetings were held at the Holiday Inn on Fairway Road - we've also met at the Granite Club and at the Westmount Golf and Country Club
  • initially we were seated at long tables which hindered discussion among members
  • we were founded by the Kitchener Westmount Rotary Club, and for several years our Christmas Luncheons were held jointly with that Rotary Club
  • The first Probus Club was formed in England by Rotarians in 1966
